Spa Therapist - Mont Rochelle - Franschhoek, South Africa

Mont Rochelle is a stunning 26-bedroom hotel and vineyard near Cape Town in the town of Franschhoek, South Africa. Mont Rochelle is part of Virgin Limited Edition, Sir Richard Branson’s award-winning collection of unique retreats and luxury hotels, chosen for their beautiful locations and magnificent surroundings; each offering a sense of fun, style, luxury and exceptional personal service. The rest of the group includes Necker & Moskito Islands in the Caribbean’s British Virgin Islands, Ulusaba Private Game Reserve in South Africa, Kasbah Tamadot in Morocco, The Lodge in Verbier, Mahali Mzuri, a tented safari camp in Kenya and Son Bunyola, located in Mallorca, Spain.

 

Overview

Mont Rochelle Spa therapists provide the overall Spa experience to our guests from their arrival at the spa until their departure, including all arrangements and treatments.

 

What's my contribution

  • Promotion of the spa to in-house guests, advising them of the treatments and retail products available.
  • Spa areas are prepared and ready for guests.
  • Welcoming guests to the spa as per Company standards.
  • Performing treatments according to guest’s preference and ensuring their wellbeing throughout the treatment.
  • Maintaining a high level of hygiene and cleanliness at all times.
  • Upselling of spa products.
  • Reporting any maintenance issues and ensuring they are fixed timeously.
  • Responding to guest feedback in a positive and timeous manner.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience within a 5* spa environment would be an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills including telephone etiquette.
  • Relevant spa qualifications/training.
  • Ability to work on Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Driver’s license and own transport (if not residing in the Franschhoek Valley).

 

What's the deal?

  • Competitive Salary
  • Commission: Between 5% and 10% on all treatments performed and retail sold.
  • Hours: Usually five days per week, as per operational requirements.
  • Provident Fund: 5% Company Contribution (and 5% deduction).
  • Annual Leave: 15 working days plus an additional day off for your birthday.
  • Notice Period: One month (after successful completion of the probation period).

Overview

Assists with and co-ordinates the team who maintains all aspects of the property and gardens of Mont Rochelle Hotel

 

What's my contribution

  • Ensures that the hotel, hotel facilities, guest areas, guest rooms and all public areas are maintained in good working order.
  • Supervises and monitors the performance and daily activities of the maintenance and gardens staff, assigns jobs, work schedules and prioritize work load to ensure optimum productivity and timely response.
  • Consistently provides on-the-job supervision and training, provides necessary technical information for repair, maintenance, operation, modification, replacement and new construction activities to ensure that all jobs are being done correctly.
  • Ensuring that all staff within the maintenance team are guided, trained for the correct job allocated and that all goals set are maintained and monitored and recorded.
  • Works closely with other departments to coordinate the engineering work activities, to minimize adverse impact and maximize timely response.
  • Advises and confers with Manager on the effective and conservative use of heat, light and power programs and policies in order to maintain low energy costs and align with Virgin Sustainability goals.
  • Participates in efforts to evaluate and update administrative systems that relate to the spare parts and supplies, time and materials, inventory control, preventative maintenance, project control and work order system to provide the hotel with the most op-to-date programs and procedures
  • Maintains a preventative and planned maintenance schedule throughout the year whilst on demand work continues.
  • Maintains accurate work records
  • Assists with the daily maintenance tasks as required
  • Comply with all Virgin and statutory Health & Safety regulations

Senior Reservations Manager - Finch Hattons - Nairobi, Kenya

The group also includes Necker Island and Branson Beach Estate in the Caribbean’s British Virgin Islands, Ulusaba Private Game Reserve and Mont Rochelle Hotel and Mountain Vineyard, both in South Africa, Kasbah Tamadot in Morocco, The Lodge in Verbier, Mahali Mzuri, a tented safari camp in Kenya and, and Son Bunyola Estate in Mallorca.


This office-based role is located in Nairobi, Kenya, where our central teams are located. The official office hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, and Saturday, 9am to 1pm; however, you would be required to work as and when necessary to fulfil your role. Occasional full working days on Saturday or Sunday will also be required to support the reservations team. Working hours will also be subject to review in line with business needs. No overtime is payable.


The Senior Reservations Manager will report to the VLE Group Reservations Manager and assist with overseeing of the day-to-day running of the reservations office, ensuring rate strategy is adhered to in order to maximise room revenue and grow incremental revenue & compiling detailed and accurate reporting. Furthermore, to help with transitioning to a VLE Global Reservations role, that overseas Finch Hattons and Mahali Mzuri, or other VLE properties, subject to business demand.

To be considered for this role, you must have the right to work in Kenya.

What are we looking for?

Qualifications/ Experience

  • Extensive experience in the luxury hospitality industry: Over 5 years working with high-end or luxury brands, demonstrating a strong understanding of upscale service standards and guest expectations.
  • Proficient in reservation systems: Familiarity with popular reservations booking systems; knowledge of systems such as PMS system, and Synxis CRS is beneficial.
  • Educational background in tourism or hospitality management: A degree or diploma in Tourism, Hospitality, or a related field is preferred, providing a solid foundation in industry principles and best practices.
  • Strong sales acumen: Ability to recognize and act on sales opportunities,  contributing to revenue growth and maximizing bookings.
  • Customer-focused mindset: Proven ability to prioritize guest satisfaction and anticipate client needs with tailored recommendations and solutions.
  • Cultural awareness: Understanding of diverse guest needs, with experience handling an international clientele effectively.
  • Analytical skills: Capability to analyze booking trends, track KPIs, and implement strategies that support occupancy and revenue goals.
  • Experience in handling a small, highly diverse and motivated team within the luxury travel environment.

What’s the gig?

Here’s what you’d do:

  • To ensure the effective and efficient running of the Finch Hattons Reservations office, upholding the highest level of personal service and standards
  • Support and assist the Finch Reservations Team with responding to enquiries to  guarantee that all reservations are handled in accordance with the company minimum standards for turnaround, confirmation and follow-up
  • Help to transition to a VLE Global Reservations role, that overseas Finch Hattons  and Mahali Mzuri, or other VLE properties, subject to business demand
  • To deal with any complaints, investigate and report findings to management and take necessary steps to avoid a reoccurrence
  • Create an environment to ensure strong client relationships are built to encourage  repeat business
  • To maintain the highest levels of communication between the Finch Hattons  Reservations Team, Sales Teams and the properties
  • To support the Head of Revenue in the implementation and review of our overall  strategy to meet the business objectives
  • Monitor working standards on an ongoing basis and ensure regular training is  carried out to continually improve the performance and effectiveness of the  Reservations Team
  • Responsible for Finch Hattons Reservations Team employee training, appraisals,  development and performance management, in consultation with the Head of  Revenue
  • To continuously review our working practices and systems used are in line with a  best-in-class reservations environment
